contemporary poster design contribution for Migrant Zine Collective - topic: TOGETHER APART
This zine resonates with the diaspora at the time of the pandemic where it became a challenge for some who are far away from their loved ones. The pieces in this zine brought together some in the form of visuals and writings and brought out feelings and how people generated different ways to stay connected with their loved ones/ whanau during tough times.

I was sitting on this idea for a while and jotted down how I felt and how I navigated during covid hit lockdowns. As an immigrant and away from loved ones surely takes a toll on your thinking and mind. When I was invited to take part in Zine, I knew what to do as a lot can resonate with it and feel a deep connection.
This heuristic poster depicts the very idea of the connection of the mind between physical and spiritual aspects. How are we perceiving things while our mind is functioning non-stop like a machine? Some of us are somewhat in spaces where we don’t belong and while locked up during the pandemic, it gave us time to re-evaluate our lives and take actions that have never been taken before.
I created a system of icons that depicted physical parts of the mind and connected them with our spiritual consciousness and sub-consciousness. And how this very mind can help us free ourselves from the confinement.
