TOTEM POLE (POUWHENUA)

Totem Pole is a way of symbolizing and commemorating beliefs, lineage, stories, legends…... Each carving/ design has a purpose. Pouwhenua can be found throughout New Zealand.

The concept of this group project was to celebrate the nations/ diversity of New Zealand/ Aotearoa:

Created a group Totem Pole with inspiration from Maori Art and second nation, which took me to my base, Pakistani Art. Combining the arts of two different nations was mesmerizing. I chose to create the base of the pole. While the rest of the group mates brought individual spin to the pole from their cultural background.

Being the team lead, I made sure that the colour palette, composition and design should be consistent.
