This heuristic, experiential design project is an abstract graphic ‘Maze’ that reflects the classic cycle of abuse, verbal abuse and the obstacles faced by Domestic Abuse survivors, focused on Women with Children who are deeply involved in their relationships.

A system of icons with the help of Line Art was created to address the most common question asked “Why don’t you leave?”. Each statement printed are the common sentences hurled as verbal abuse. Instead of choosing a typeface, personal handwriting was used to give more personal meaning.

The Maze was then printed on a soft but heavy cotton/ polyester fabric for the audience to experience by finding their way out. Only to empathize and understand how hard is it for Women to leave such a toxic environment.

The fabric was put on a backdrop stand and wrapped around a female mannequin as a symbol of strength that these women wear every day and face the world.

An Information Booklet and Card were printed for the audience as project collaterals, as a statement of how art can move and become a symbol of change.
